Welcome to the College of Engineering, Kangwon National University (KNU), one of the best engineering colleges in Korea (10th, Leiden Ranking).
Over the last few months, I have had the opportunity to devote myself to our College of Engineering and fulfill our mission towards academic excellence. We have strong passion for teaching, learning, and research. Our outstanding faculty members, as well as systematic efforts of our staffs are the key driving forces of our college's growth. We strive to create an academic community where faculty and students work together toward a brighter future.
A Past and Present
Our College was opened in 1977 to train highly qualified engineers for pivoting and pioneering roles in technological and industrial development. We apply academic theories, which are continuously being developed to meet the rapidly evolving trend in current education system and to provide world-class research. The College of Engineering is comprised of ten ABEEK (Accreditation Board for Engineering Education of Korea) and one KAAB (Korea Architectural Accreditation Board) accredited undergraduate programs. We offer a wide range of undergraduate and graduate engineering programs, and cover almost all fields of engineering; dynamic community of more than 3,000 undergraduate students, 300 graduate students, and 86 faculty members.
On the way to the 4th industrial revolution era, there is a growing demand for industrial and social roles of engineers. It is imperative to continuously train future engineers with innovation and creativity to meet the requirement and expectation of the high global education standard. We will be at the forefront of education and research, and continue to grow as the leading engineering college in Korea.
In 2018, our college was selected as ¡®Leading College in the Fourth Industrial Revolution¡¯ by the government. We continuously assert a leadership role and voice in solving current scientific, technical and societal problems. We have strong enthusiasm for cutting-edge technology development, breakthrough in interdisciplinary research, academic-industry partnership, as well as international cooperation. We will make every effort to develop and expand students¡¯ full potential, continue to excel and provide leadership, and pursue our mission of becoming the leading engineering college in Korea.
